Britta Flach

Dr. Britta Flach is a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for HIV Research at the University Hospital Essen. After receiving her PhD in 2009 from the Ludwig Maximillians University in Munich, focusing on the pathogenesis of murine gamma herpesvirus 68, she transferred to Kampala, Uganda, to work for the U.S. Military HIV Research Program. Here she was involved in the conduction and management of several HIV vaccine trials. In 2013, she began working for the HIV Vaccine Trial Network (HVTN), helping to set up a new laboratory in Cape Town, South Africa, which supported HIV vaccine trials and immunogenicity studies. In 2015, she joined the Bundeswehr Institute of Microbiology in Munich, working on serosurveillance studies and collaborating on a project in Tanzania studying the epidemiology of vector borne diseases . She joined the Streeck Lab in 2016 and is now working on identifying the immune responses in acute and chronic viral infections and vaccine vectors.
