Michael Storcksdieck gen. Bonsmann

Dr. Michael Storcksdieck genannt Bonsmann is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute of HIV Research. He received his Master’s Degree in Biochemistry with a major in Molecular Medicine from the Ruhr-University Bochum. During his Master’s studies at Prof. A. Bufe’s Department for Experimental Pneumology, he investigated an antiviral activity against the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) in barn dust extracts as a possible explanation for the reduced risk for asthma in children from rural areas. For his doctorate, he joined Prof. K. Überla’s Department of Molecular and Medical Virology. Here, he studied the potential of HIV-1 GagPol-specific CD4+ T cells to enhance the quality of Env-specific antibodies in a preclinical small animal model. After a short post doctorate focused on vaccine-induced HBV-specific T helper cells, he joined the Streeck Lab at the University Hospital Essen to expand his knowledge on HIV-specific CD4+ T cells and their role in vaccine development.
