Jeff Teigler

Dr. Jeffrey Teigler is a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Hendrik Streeck at the U.S Military HIV Research Program. He is keenly interested in the interfaces between scientific fields. This interest led him to obtain undergraduate degrees in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology as well as German language from Ursinus College. Following his undergraduate studies, he was awarded a J. William Fulbright Fellowship to study public health interventions as well as familial genetics at Eberhard Karls Universität in Tübingen, Germany. He then decided to pursue graduate studies at the Program in Virology at the Division of Medical Sciences at Harvard University. There, he performed his graduate thesis work in the laboratory of Dr. Dan H. Barouch and wrote his dissertation on the differential innate immune stimulatory properties and mechanisms of adenovirus and poxvirus vaccine vectors. The originality and importance of his graduate work was recognized through his being named one of the eight inaugural Harvard Horizons scholars, chosen across all programs in the Graduate School for Arts and Sciences at Harvard University.

Dr. Teigler is deeply interested in the means by which immune responses are programmed by different stimuli, and how these processes can be harnessed to generate novel and powerful immunotherapeutics against important infections and cancers. Currently, he is developing innovative methods of testing vaccines and therapies in a rapid and patient-specific manner to more efficiently generate vaccines. He is furthermore exploring novel ways in which the human immune system targets and interacts with infections.
